Requirements
What are the Driver's License Requirements?

Below are Alamo's driver's license requirement policies:

  • In order to rent an Alamo vehicle, a valid driver's license is required and must be presented at the time of rental
  • International renters must present a valid and readable driving license from their country of residence
  • No learner permits or photocopies are accepted
  • Temporary driver's licenses are accepted only if valid during the rental period
  • If the driver's license has no photo ID, the description on the license must match that of the renter
Who is considered the Primary Renter when renting a car?

The primary renter is the driver that is listed as the main driver on the rental agreement. This person is ultimately responsible for the Alamo car.

What is a Rental Agreement?

The rental agreement is the contract between Alamo and the renter. It requires the renter's signature and lists total charges and refers to the terms and conditions of rental.

Which qualifications do you need to rent a car?

In order to qualify to rent a vehicle with Alamo the following requirements must be met:

  • A valid driver's license issued by the state or country in which you reside
  • Must be at least 23 years of age
  • Main driver must have a valid credit card

 

General Information
How full will the tank be at the time of rental?

Alamo provides you with a full tank at the time of rental. If the car is not returned with a full tank the renter will be charged for the difference at a higher rate than the gas station rate.

What happens if the car that I rented has mechanical problems or is involved in an Accident?

In case of an accident call Curacao Road Services at 199 and wait for them at the location of the accident, do not move your vehicle unless instructed to do so by the authorities. CSR will make up an official accident report. Remember to be truthful and accurate as your statements may be used in legal claims. Without this report any type of coverage that you may have purchased will not be applicable and you may be held responsible for the full amount of the damages. In case of any mechanical problems or failures you can call 9247 for assistance. During office hours you may also call our head office at 869-4433.

Is there a minimal Rental period?

Minimal rental charge is 24 hours, rentals lasting less than 24 hours will still be charged for a full days rental. During some periods, minimal rental periods of 3 days may be required.

What is a Reservation?

A reservation is confirmation of a vehicle which is reserved for a customer at a particular location, on a specified date, at an agreed upon rate price plus taxes, surcharges and fees. Taxes, surcharges and fees are subject to change. Modifications to a reservation could result in a rate change.

Who is Responsible for the Rental Vehicle?

Alamo holds the renter responsible for the safe return of the rental vehicle in the same condition as it was rented, except for normal wear and tear. Unless prohibited by law, a renter may be held responsible for all damages, including loss of use, should the vehicle be damaged in an accident or vandalized. The renter may be asked to pay for the damage up to and including the total cost of replacing the vehicle in case of a total wreck or loss. Different types of coverage’s can be purchased to limit or erase your liability.

What’s a Walkup / Walk-In?

A 'walk up/in' is a renter who does not have a confirmed reservation prior to renting a vehicle.

What is the minimum Age Requirement to rent a car? Below are Alamo's policies on age requirements:

  • The primary renter of the vehicle must be at least 23 years of age, a US$ 6 per day under age charge applies to all renters younger than 25 years
  • All drivers must show a valid driver's license at the time of rental
  • Certain specialty and larger sized vehicles may not be rented to drivers below 25
  • Alamo reserves the right to refuse rental of a vehicle if the renter demonstrates inability to handle road rules and conditions

Additional Information
Will Alamo check my Driving Record before renting me a car?

Alamo may verify your driving record with the department of motor vehicles. Rental privileges are denied if a driver’s license is suspended based on his/her record.

What do I need to do if I want to keep the car a few extra days Rental?

When a customer wishes to extend a rental, the additional charges will be paid directly to the renting location at the current local rate. The original rate of rental is not guaranteed for the extended portion of the rental term.

Who is the authorized driver?

Only the driver who's name appears on the contract.

What are the conditions for additional Drivers?
  • All additional drivers must meet ALL rental qualifications as well as all other standard rental qualifications
  • Must appear at the rental counter with the primary renter
  • Must present a valid driver's license
  • Must sign the rental agreement
  • Unless the additional driver is a spouse there is a daily US$ 6 charge for each additional driver
When do you speak of Capacity Control?

When location's limit of special rate and/or certificates/coupon usage has been reached. Normally during holidays and peak-rental times of the year.

What are blackout dates?

Dates when certain special rates are not available or certificates/coupons cannot be applied, usually during holidays and peak-rental times of the year.

Can I rent a child seat/infant seat when renting a car at Alamo?

Yes,  please request when  booking your car.  Subject to availability.

What is a confirmation number?

Also known as a reservation number, this number confirms your reservation with Alamo.

How serious does Alamo take the confidentiality of its customer’s information

Alamo takes its customer's information confidentiality very serious. It is Alamo's policy that customer's  private information will not be shared with 3rd parties.

Payment
Does Alamo accept Debit Cards?

No, Alamo will not accept debit cards at the start of a rental.  A valid credit card is required.

Is there an extra fee if the car is returned later than agreed upon?

Alamo calculates rates based on a 24-hour period from the time of rental. If the car is returned later, late charges will apply. If a vehicle is returned later than 4 hours an additional day will be charged.

Are there any surcharges or taxes applicable when renting a car?

All surcharges below will be itemized on your rental agreement. Typical taxes and surcharges are as follows:

  • 9% local sales tax
  • US$ 1.86 theft protection per day
  • 11.5% airport concession fee (only applicable if rental originates at airport)
Which credit cards are accepted when renting a car at Alamo?

At the time of rental a valid credit card belonging to the main driver must be presented. Signature on the back must match name imprinted on card and the signature on the main driver's driving license. Accepted Credit Cards are: American Express/Discover Card/ MasterCard and Visa.
